Our Team
Alex Paulec president and founder
Alex was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The son of a painting and drywall contractor, he learned early on the value of hard work and the importance of showing up on time. No tolerance was given to the son of the guy running the job. But like the karate kid, before he knew it, he was doing painting and drywall.
Alex thrives off of new challenges. His journey is a winding one, including an MBA, working internationally in consulting, and pursuing a masters in philosophy of religion. In 2015, in order to spend more time with his kids and make a more direct impact in Southwest Florida, he started Yellowtail Construction.
When he’s not working with the Yellowtail team, he’s out in nature, with his kids, or playing guitar.
Yonas Cruz operations manager
Yonas was born in Cuba and was a competitive squash player throughout his upbringing. He studied construction and seemed to always know that he belonged in the United States.
He arrived in Miami in 2002 and began working construction alongside his grandfather, where he renovated his first house. Continuing to take on new challenges, his journey includes working for a variety of companies, including car dealerships, custom glass, and construction. He joined the Yellowtail team in 2022, and runs operations to ensure every job is done with love.
When he’s not working, he’s catching a movie, boating, and enjoying time with his family.
Sabine Kurzmann office management
Sabine brings over 15 years of finance experience to Yellowtail. From accounting and payroll to compliance and purchasing, she keeps our office running.
Sabine was born in Germany and studied Business Administration at the University of Munich. After initial work experience in the hospitality industry, she pursued a finance career with a European-based, multinational corporation. She and her husband later moved to Southwest Florida, where they built their current home.
Outside the office, she treasures her family, spending time in nature, traveling, and playing the piano.
Micah Paulec sales & marketing
Micah attended The King’s College in New York City and acquired a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. He’s currently continuing his education in interior design, studying composition, materials, & functional space.
He joined the Yellowtail team in 2024, focusing on aesthetics. From marketing to functional design, Micah gives us an extra set of eyes and a broader perspective on spacial composition.
He balances his time between Austin, Texas and Southwest Florida. When he’s not doing design work, he’s hanging with friends, reading great books, or making music.
